Production management works at the heart of the programme making process working with creative colleagues to produce great content.
We are offering 12 month traineeships across a range of our programmes; providing a comprehensive foundation for a career in production management.
The successful candidates will be assigned to production secretary roles across a range of formats and genres. At the end of the traineeships candidates should be experienced in the production secretary role and building experience towards the next step to coordinator.
Day to day responsibilities may include:
During your assignments you will act as a key point of contact for the whole team supporting production management and editorial teams with all operational, financial and logistical aspects of the production lifecycle. You will develop knowledge of the legal frameworks and production guidelines that our programmes work within and will be comfortable adapting to different ways of working, technology and software. You will be a great team player and enjoy working with others collaboratively to produce great results. Tasks may include:
Timely and efficient administrative support eg helping with team and office set up
Assisting with the updating and distribution of production documentation eg contact lists, call sheets, schedules
Assisting with the setup of studio and location shoots eg booking crew, location, catering facilities and helping out on location as required
Booking all travel, hotel, visa requirements liaising with crew, production teams and on screen talent
Assisting with management of programme budgets eg raising of purchase orders and processing expenses
Playing your part in resolving all logistical challenges from finding props to looking after talent on set! Job Description is available on request.
To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills and aptitudes:
Minimum role criteria:
Experience of working in a broadcast tv or film environment for at least 3 months eg as runner or equivalent showing aptitude for the production management career path or experience of a comparable role in stage/events management
Experience of providing efficient, administrative support in a busy, fast-paced environment, prioritising workload, maintaining accuracy and performance under pressure and to tight deadlines
Organisational skills with an instinct for adhering to schedules/budget, and a solution-focussed approach to tackling problems to deliver best outcomes
Experience in a people or customer facing role interacting effectively with a range of personalities and of working collaboratively within a team to deliver best results
Aptitude to use and adapt to a range of ways of working, technologies and software including an aptitude for spreadsheets
Enthusiasm and passion for the role with evidence of being proactive in driving own personal development

Other role criteria is as follows:
Experience of managing an event or project adhering to timescales and budget (this could be within an academic or non TV/film environment)
Knowledge of the administrative processes required to support the smooth running of a production eg travel, hotel bookings, visas, crew bookings adhering to procurement and sustainability frameworks
Experience of delivering work within legal frameworks eg health and safety, GDPR, copyright legislation
Experience of working with video/audio technology and workflows eg cameras, editing software
Experience of looking after on screen talent (or equivalent) and contributors including members of the public demonstrating integrity and confidentiality
Ability to show sensitivity to the needs and pressures of colleagues and to influence others to drive best team outcomes managing upwards effectively escalating issues where appropriate
